Privacy Symposium 2026 (Venice, Italy, 20–24 Apr 2026)

The Privacy & Data Governance Symposium is an annual conference on privacy and data protection. The 2026 Symposium was held from 20-24 April 2026 in Venice, Italy (hosted by Ca’ Foscari University). The event aims to «promote international dialogue, cooperation, and knowledge sharing on data governance, regulatory compliance, and innovative technologies».

The conference brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including major international organizations, European institutions (such as the European Commission, the European Data Protection Supervisor, and the Fundamental Rights Agency), national data protection authorities, global industry leaders, and academic and research experts, all actively participating in the discussions.

The 2026 program featured 100+ sessions (keynotes, panels and workshops) on GDPR updates, AI/privacy, cybersecurity, cross-border data flows, and emerging tech (IoT, blockchain, etc.). Over 300 experts and authorities spoke at the symposium. For example, keynote speakers included privacy commissioners and EU officials discussing legal compliance and tech trends. Many sessions were co-organized with regulators (e.g. Council of Europe, ICC) and covered data governance in sectors like finance, health and IoT. The agenda and papers were made available online; attendees could earn certifications for DPO training.

CompSTLar partners Mandat International and IoT Lab contributed to the organization of the event. They also promoted CompSTLar’s activities cat the dedicated exhibition booth for European Horizon projects within the Exhibition Area, highlighting European research and initiatives on data protection and regulatory compliance.

In sum, Privacy Symposium 2026 provided an in-depth, practical program for privacy professionals, combining regulatory updates with technology insights.
